Time to get reading for our summer book discussion! We'll be talking about Half the Sky, by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, on Sat., August 14, at 10 a.m. Women hold up half the sky; let's see how we can support them worldwide.
Welcome, Ben Ricker!
We welcome Ben Ricker as our new organist and choir
director. With a music degree from UMass, Ben has played jazz and other musical
styles across New England and Canada,
as a solo pianist, in his own trio, and with Senegalese master drummer Lamine Toure's
band Group Saloum. Ben released the CD “Alone Together” in 2007. (You can learn
more about his work on his web page, www.benricker.com.)
He also plays for the evening Watershed service – a contemporary, contemplative
service – at First Presbyterian Church of Waltham.
We’re so glad to have
him. Thank you for your prayers during our search for a music director.

Trinity
was represented by our moderator Lisa Deeley Smith at the July 7 prayer
vigil for the tragedy in in the Gulf. See the link below; more than 100
people attended the service at Old South Church, which featured an
outdoor candlelight vigil. You'll find links to the prayer
composed for the service and (on page four of the order of worship) to a hymn sung to the tune of the Naval Hymn, "Eternal Father, Strong To Save."
Welcome, All Hands In!
At a special business meeting, Trinity voted to welcome All Hands In, a new interfaith organization dedicated to combating human trafficking. All Hands In will have an office at Trinity near Fellowship Hall. Until All Hands In gains its own non-profit status, donations will be routed through Trinity's Benevolent Fund. Make your checks out to Trinity Baptist Church and put "All Hands In" on the memo line. For more information, check out its web page or contact Barbara Anderson at allhandsin@comcast.net.
Breaking news! All Hands In has just received a grant for its work!
Resist Human Trafficking, Go Green, at Coffee Hour! Fueled by our increasing commitment to "go green," and our knowledge that child labor on major coffee plantations is another face of human trafficking, Trinity has joined the Equal Exchange Interfaith Program. Our coffee hour, already rich in fellowship, will now support good growing practices and the dignity of non-exploitive labor. And the coffees and teas are really good!
Will we be selling Equal Exchange chocolates, nuts, and dried fruit? Stay tuned ...
We had a wonderful evening assembling and packing hygiene and baby-care kits for Church World Service to send to Haiti. The community response was terrific! Get the details about this and other photos on our public Facebook page. (You don't have to be a member of Facebook to see it!)
We still need some items to complete baby-care and hygiene kits for Church World Service to send to Haiti.
At this writing, we need cloth diapers for baby-care kits and hand towels for hygiene kits.
Questions about the kits program? Visit Church World Service's FAQ page.
If you're looking for a hands-on way to assist in Haiti, help us with these kits!
Click here if you want to make a monetary donation to Church World Service's effort in Haiti. See the article about us on Boston.com. Read on Wicked Local.com how Trinity and other Arlington churches are participating in Haitian relief.

Welcome from the pastor
Dear friends! On behalf of the membership of Trinity Baptist Church, I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and I bid you a hearty welcome to our website.
I pray that the peace of God and the grace of Lord Jesus be your constant companion. At Trinity, we believe in the authority of God's Holy Word, the priesthood of every believer, and in a loving and merciful God who empowers us to serve the Kingdom of God in our daily living. Moreover, we believe that “God is Good, All the Time” and that “All the time, God is Good.” God’s goodness permeates the air, including the whole environment of the church where we are drawn to worship.
Has God been good to you? We invite you to come and worship with us and enjoy the goodness of the Lord, together as the daughters and sons of the Living God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. We believe that worship is a privilege because of God’s goodness and because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. Because of one sacrifice, we who are many have become members of the body of Christ, brothers and sisters in the church universal.
